Please read everything before you flame me for a bad post. Joined this forum to find a way to fix the static/no-animation bug in GA, sadly didn't find what I needed but browsing the internet I found a fix. Thought I share.

I explained each step and why they are necessary. You are incorrect in saying the the EP1_PatchData.package has no effect on the game.

Removing this file effectively removes any patches you have applied to your game. This will decrease the compatibility with mods, and may destabilise your game. The PatchData works like a mod does -- adds and replaces files in the original packages -- except it was designed to tell Spore to ignore things that are in the original files as well, to improve the stability and function, and fix glitches. It's a Maxis-made mod that's essentially a bunch of bugfixing. In addition, the install order is incorrect.

Installing Patch 5.1 before GA is known to cause issues, even if you install it again over the top of GA. That's a game-breaker, right there. You probably won't notice the difference at first, but it can cause a great deal of instability. It's better to leave Patch 5.1 out till the very last.

The reason you have no animations is because you're using an outdated no-cd crack on the Spore.exe, correct? Yeah, that's the issue. Nobody ever made a no-cd crack for Patch 5.1/6. The latest crack was designed for Patch 4; using that one with the 5.1 patch or higher will result in this glitch. Your way of fixing it effectively unpatches your game entirely.

Basically, you may as well not have patched the game to 5.1 in the first place and kept it at patch 4, then used the crack. That would have done the exact same thing with less trouble.

The other alternative is to not use a no-cd crack. If you don't have a cd (and have a legit copy of Spore + GA) you can apply to Maxis/EA and get a digital download version which does not require a disc. Alternatively, you can use a mini-image crack. It's far more stable than any of the other types and doesn't mess with the game's files. Once again: the only known reason for the animations missing is using an outdated no-cd cracked.exe to play GA on patch 5. Installing Laminate Flooring In A Basement. 1 or 6.
