Bloc Party Little Thoughts Ep
This is another compilation of songs (6 songs & 1 video for the title track)from previously UK only releases, made for Japan. The title track and 'Helicopter' can both be found on the album 'Silent Alarm'. 'Tulips' is moody and groovy with swirling guitars and a catchy drum beat. A great mid tempo love song with sincere vocals. This EP also contains a remix of this song as well.
Little Thoughts Lyrics: Been thinking little thoughts / Keep on walking, trying to stand up / Pay attention to the details / We go slowly, slowly down / Been thinking. Bloc Party (2004) Little Thoughts EP. 'Little Thoughts/Tulips' Released: 12 July 2004; The Little Thoughts EP is a compilation EP of previously UK-only Bloc.
'Storm & Stress' is a good upbeat pop song with catchy, angular guitar work that is somewhat of a trademark of this band. 'Skeleton' another good song that fits right in with the 'Silent Alarm' era material. Fast drum beats, dreamy and angular guitars, driving bass, and rapid-fire vocals. For the amount of material here, this is kinda pricey but it is an import which are always more expensive.
There are three very solid b-sides here: Storm and Stress, Skeleton, and Tulips. To get these songs by buying the singles they appear on may end up being more expensive than just buying this one EP. If you loved 'Silent Alarm', make sure you check out this Japanese exclusive, especially if you can find one for a decent price. (I lucked out & found a two-disc version of 'Silent Alarm Remixed' containing most of these tracks.) B-sides are rarely ever this good, so it’s amazing that around 2004-2005, Bloc Party were relegating songs this awesome to b-side status. For additional excellence, check out “The Present” from the 'Help! Pokemon Black 2 For Pc there. A Day In The Life' compilation as well as the “Two More Years” single.
This was elequantly delightful to listen to. While referring to my usual Sunday newspaper, I sat quietly and gleefully in my garden listening to Bloc Party - Little Thoughts EP on my iPod Nano (Registered Trademark). The roof rumbling drum rhythms, stomping bass and wall shattering guitar riffs blew me, my wife and daughter away, who are both devoted fans also. Thank you Bloc Party for your Outstanding Contribution to Music - Brits (Registered Trademark), which you should have been nominated for, if not awarded. THIS IS NOT A JOKE. Review Summary: Although it was released to merely hype up the band in America, Little Thoughts EP is a worthwhile listen for anyone wondering how Bloc Party sounded before making it big. Hype can often be the downfall of a band, especially when it weighs down a band that hasn't had a lot of time to actually prove themselves.
This could have been the story of Bloc Party, who were projected to be the next big thing in indie rock after releasing only two singles in the UK. These singles helped Bloc Party achieved heights far out of the reach of most bands, making it big before releasing a full length album and sounding great right out of the gate. Bloc Party are one of those rare bands whose early tracks are better than a lot of their album cuts, which is quite a feat. Little Thoughts EP is a compilation for Americans who missed out on Bloc Party's UK only singles that proves that feat, massively hyping up the band's upcoming debut album.
